Bridging Course

Bridging Course 2011

The Bridging Course is aimed at students who show potential but did not meet The Open Window’s selection criteria and who need to develop certain primary visual communication skills in order to reach the required entry-level skills.

Students who are not confident about their drawing abilities and wish to prepare themselves for selection at The Open Window may enroll only for Drawing 1 during the year prior to enrollment (e.g. during their Matric year).

Students will be guided to understand and utilise the English language, research skills, selected media and creativity.

Students who pass the following subjects may apply for selection at the end of the Bridging Course:

Drawing: Modules 1-4

Research: Modules 1 & 2                        

 

Components of the course

1: Drawing

Observational drawing; Illustrator* as vector drawing medium; figure drawing; composition and multiple objects; techniques.

* Software program that will be taught as part of the course

    2: Research

    Academic research; academic writing and reading; creative writing; marketing theory and applied research.
