The 3D Design 1st Year students from the School of Creative Technologies created fully workable designer lighting. The aim was to design and manufacture a modular lampshade that would be assembled from laser-cut sheeted material.

Their well-defined vision started with the 5 emotions that they wanted to evoke with their final pieces. A 360º Space awareness of the contemporary landscape of lighting design was done. It followed with a narrative on the intended user. Rapid visualization followed with quick sketches that developed into solid concepts. The strongest proposed directions were taken into CAD and Illustrator and files were created that was ready for laser-cutting. The pieces were assembled and the end result was a celebration of lighting that applied technology to design creation.
