SUMMARY:Open Window. Open World. Now What?
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=”547098″]Open Window. Open World. Now What? \nThe industry isn’t a ladder. It’s an open world. Here’s how to play it. \n  \nMost people think the creative industry is a ladder. Get the right internship\, climb the right rungs\, land the right title. \nIt’s not. It’s an open world. It’s packed with agencies\, startup studios\, dev houses\, in-house teams\, freelance gigs\, and roles that don’t have names yet. Nobody ends up where they planned\, and the most interesting careers are the ones that wandered. \nIn this hands-on 3-hour session\, OW alumnus and product designer Paul Loots walks you through five versions of a creative career he’s actually lived\, then drops you into the middle of your own. Expect industry scenarios\, honest stories\, zero corporate career advice\, and at least one moment of “wait\, that’s allowed?” \nWalk in uncertain. Walk out curious.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:Interrogating the gaze as an avenue towards counter-storytelling
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=”394565″] \nCounter-Storytelling: Interrogating the Gaze \nHow do your experiences shape the stories you tell? In this interactive writing workshop\, you’ll explore the power of perspective\, unpack the idea of the “gaze”\, and discover how inherited ways of seeing influence academic writing and creative work. Through thought-provoking discussions\, creative writing exercises\, and collaborative reflection\, you’ll develop practical tools for crafting more intentional\, nuanced\, and authentic stories. Whether you’re a writer\, filmmaker\, designer\, or simply curious about storytelling\, this workshop offers a unique opportunity to challenge the “single story” and rethink the narratives we create. It aims to equip participants with the tools to scrutinise and subvert their own biases. \nSpace is limited to ensure an engaging and interactive workshop. Please RSVP HERE \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:Co-Creation and Creativity: Arts Education in Dialogue
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text uncode_shortcode_id=”152130″]The Open Window Teacher’s Conference aims to bring together educators\, researchers\, and practitioners in the field of creative arts education to explore innovative strategies for making our curricula and pedagogical strategies more individualised and learner-centric. The conference will provide a platform for knowledge-sharing\, practical workshops\, and panel discussions that address challenges and opportunities in art education. \nDate: Friday 15 May\nVenue: Open Window\, Stellenbosch\nCatering: Lunch \nTheme Exploration in the Programme: \nThis year\, our Co-Creation and Creativity: Arts Education in Dialogue programme will explore multiple topics\, including curriculum co-creation with students\, learner-centred education and approaches to well-being\, collaborative techniques in creativity\, and co-creating with AI. \nCo-Creation and Creativity offers the platform for educators to consider: How do learners shape or inform their own learning? How does the curriculum respond to or adapt itself around learners? To what extent are we as educators continuously evolving to meet the needs of our learners? This topic is pressing as it engages with the phenomenon of ‘the individual’ and the growing demand for an individualised approach to education. It foregrounds pedagogical approaches which prioritise student autonomy and agency\, their subjective experiences and perspectives\, and self-directed learning. This phenomenon further entails curriculum diversity and flexibility. How can we empower ourselves as educators to navigate set curriculum parameters\, whether governmental or privately determined? How can we collaborate cross-institutionally for the benefit of educators and students alike? \nAs educators\, we acknowledge the extent to which learning and creativity are\, in fact\, always collaborative\, whether it be between groups and individuals\, or between people and technology\, online platforms\, and tools. Particularly relevant to co-creating with technology is the promotion of active learning alongside AI rather than blindly depending on it. Our conference thus encourages critical conversation around the ethical use of AI tools. \nJoin us in the spirit of collaboration as we foster dialogue among educators\, institutions\, and industry professionals to enhance curriculum development and showcase best practices in arts education.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/1″][vc_button border_width=”0″ link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.openwindow.co.za%2Fco-creation-and-creativity-arts-education-in-dialogue-2%2F93768%2F” uncode_shortcode_id=”165217″]Programme and Workshops[/vc_button][vc_button border_width=”0″ link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fopenwindowspecialistspaces.as.me%2Fschedule%2Fc05fcb45%2Fappointment%2F90329282%2Fcalendar%2F12251994%2Fdatetime%2F2026-05-15T08%253A30%253A00%252B02%253A00%3Fcategories%255B%255D%3DTeacher%2527s%2BConference” uncode_shortcode_id=”331915″]RSVP[/vc_button][/vc_column][/vc_row]

(U.C.T.)\nM.A. (Northwestern\, Chicago)\nM.B.A. (Wits) \nWHO IS THIS COURSE FOR? \nIf you want an AI to do all your writing for you\, this course is not for you.\nBut if your goal is to: \n\nexpand your skillset for crafting plot and character;\nmaster writer-focused collaboration with an AI;\noptimise AI responses to serve the story that you  want to tell;\nraise your own storytelling to a new level\,then read on…\n\nWHAT YOU’LL LEARN \nBy the end of the course you will have: \n\nexpanded your plot and character development skillset\nincorporated those skills into structured\, writer-focused prompts;\nconceptualised the seed idea for a story;\ncollaborated with an AI to develop your seed idea into a detailed Nutshell Outline;\nincorporated all the techniques you have learned into a customised AI assistant (CustomGPT or Claude Project) for the efficient writer-AI development of your future stories. The Nutshell Outline captures the primary characters and essential core action of the plot\, and serves as the story concept for a fully-fledged outline/synopsis.\n\nREQUIREMENTS\nA mind open to new ideas\nAccess to a large-language model AI platform (e.g. ChatGPT 4\, Claude 3.5 Sonnet\, Gemini 2.0) \n[/vc_column_text][vc_button button_color=”color-143410″ custom_typo=”yes” font_family=”font-204663″ font_weight=”800″ border_width=”0″ link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2Furl%3Fq%3Dhttps%3A%2F%2Fstream.meet.google.com%2Fstream%2Ff4897303-f316-4f5f-abdd-0764a2a0e146%26sa%3DD%26source%3Dcalendar%26ust%3D1745315723817005%26usg%3DAOvVaw3MngnLpwsvJ6rk8tbE4LMq|target:_blank” button_color_type=”uncode-palette” uncode_shortcode_id=”519269″]WATCH LIVESTREAM[/vc_button][/vc_column][/vc_row]
