As hybrid beings – half human and half animal – they embody duality and transformation\, reflecting deep-seated cultural narratives about identity\, power and desire. \nThe exhibition\, Between Worlds\, allows artists to interrogate the mermaid’s place in contemporary culture\, questioning the archetypes that have defined these figures. How does the mermaid’s hybridity speak to issues of belonging\, otherness and self reinvention? What does it mean to exist between categories of identity of human and animal\, resisting easy classification?
