Pulse: Afrocentric Expressions Exhibition

“PULSE: Afrocentric Expressions” is an exhibition that seeks to spotlight visual artworks that explore the evolving identities, aesthetics, and narratives found within Afrofuturism, Afrocentric worldviews, and creative expressions from the Global South. The exhibition invited artists from across South Africa to submit works that reflect personal narratives or collective experiences, offering social commentary on issues such as migration, digital culture, urban lifestyles, decolonisation, gender, African languages, and global cultural exchange or similar themes. 

Works included in this exhibition reimagine African traditions through contemporary lenses, merging ancient symbols, indigenous knowledge systems, and cultural motifs with emerging technologies, digital realities, and urban storytelling. Artists explore themes such as speculative futures, African & Diasporic technology and innovation, mythology reinterpreted, social justice and community resilience, the evolution of identity in a globalised world, or the tension between modernity and ancestral memory.
