Overview

The Higher Certificate programme on 3D Animation: Modelling & Design is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the history, development, and production processes involved in 3D animation. The curriculum focuses on the latest industry techniques and methods related to the 3D modelling pipeline. Through practical exercises and assignments, students will gain hands-on experience with 3D software, enabling them to apply theoretical concepts throughout the modelling process.

The ultimate goal is to equip students with the skills necessary to secure internships or begin careers as independent contractors in an ever-growing industry.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The student accepted into this programme should have a recognised Matriculation Certificate obtained within South Africa or any equivalent qualification recognised by SAQA.

To apply to complete a Higher Certificate, prospective students must provide one of the following:

  • A National Senior Certificate (or Senior Certificate if obtained before 2008) with at least a ‘Higher Certificate’ pass; OR
  • A National Certificate (Vocational) NC(V) Higher Certificate pass; OR
  • A Senior Certificate (SC) (without endorsement); OR
  • A Senior Certificate (Amended) SC(A) Higher Certificate pass.
  • For international qualifications: A SAQA Evaluation Certificate with NSC L4 equivalence.
