The #OutTheGenderBox CampaignWe believe that collaborating with young creatives is the most impactful way to cause a generational ripple of “unstereotyped” creative thinking. In commemoration of the 2nd anniversary of the Unstereotype Alliance in South Africa, we are challenging marketing, advertising, and design students around the country to create social media content that is #OutTheGenderBox.

Judged on creativity, substance, engagement, and reach – the top content creators will be awarded cash prizes of R 2 500. The campaign will kick off on Tuesday, 8th March, and run until Monday, 9th May. The winners will be announced in celebration of Youth Day, on June 16th.

The campaign will be interdisciplinary, but winners will be chosen across three categories: Best Creative Idea (originality, execution); Best Thought Starter (depth of insight, constructive engagement); Best Conversation Starter (reach, constructive engagement). The judging panel will include Mbali Njomane (social innovator and inclusion specialist), Pieter Janse van Rensburg (Loerie award-winning art and creative director), and a representative from the Unstereotype Alliance.
