Sculpting Sand: Land Art in Motion

Join us for a Land Art Talk and Workshop with Strijdom van der Merwe

Strijdom van der Merwe, South Africa’s leading Land Art artist, will be presenting a talk on the rich and evolving landscape of Land Art in South Africa. This event will take place at the Open Window Campus and will explore the history of the discipline, its key principles, and highlight prominent artists shaping the field today.

The talk is open to all and will include opportunities for discussion and questions.

Following the talk, attendees are invited to participate in a hands-on Land Art workshop led by Strijdom himself. The workshop will be held at the scenic Kogel Bay Resort, where participants will collaborate to create a large-scale sand artwork, which will be photographed from above using a drone.

Open Window students: Free entry

External guests: Only pay your entry fee at Kogel Bay Resort

A light lunch will be provided before sculpting begins

Spots for the workshop are limited — please be sure to BOOK YOUR SPOT !  by 19 May!
